Steve Holy was born on February 23, 1972 in Dallas. Youngest of the eight children, Steve was into music right from an early childhood; he used to amuse his grade school classmates with his impersonations of Conway Twitty. When he was 19 years old he tried his luck for a spot at the local Mesquite Opry. To his immense delight he was selected to be a part of Johnny High's Country Music Revue. His exceptional talent emerged during his stint at the revue and he eventually, got the revue's Entertainer of the Year award.
His performance at the Miss Texas Pageant also added to his popularity.

The award and the publicity that followed attracted the attention of legendary country producer Wilbur Rimes and his daughter LeAnn, who encouraged Holy to shop himself around Nashville. Eventually Curb Records realizing the potential of Holy signed a recording deal with him in 1997. He released his maiden album 'Blue Moon' in the year 2000. The first single 'Don't Make Me Beg' from the album did reasonably well. The second single 'Blue Moon' which had more traditional country sounds peaked at Number 19 on the charts. The third single 'The Hunger', which had a pop-folk feel, peaked at Number 20. The fourth and the most popular single 'Good Morning Beautiful' peaked at no. 1 for five straight weeks in 2002.

The much awaited and anticipated second effort 'Brand New Girlfriend' was released on August 8, 2006. The album entered the country charts at # 2 and spawned hit singles such as 'Brand New Girlfriend', 'Come on Rain', and 'Men Buy the Drinks'.
