South Lake Tahoe Information: Tickets, Venues, Events and More

The city of South Lake Tahoe is located in the state of California. South Lake Tahoe falls in the El Dorado County. According to the 2000 Census, the population of the city stands at 23,609. However, due to heavy tourism, the city's population is said to fluctuate a lot.

South Lake Tahoe is situated in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the city is also a part of the 'Sacramento–Arden-Arcade–Roseville Metropolitan Statistical Area'. In fact, it is said to attract the maximum number of tourists in this region. As per the United States Census Bureau, the city covers a total area of 16.5 square miles, of which 61.97% is land, and is at an elevation of 6260 ft.

The city is an extremely popular tourism spot and tourism is the main industry for the city. Particularly the eastern portion of the city is a very popular tourist spot. It showcases a number of fancy restaurants featuring different exotic foods.

The famous Heavenly Ski Resort is also situated here. The massive resort is spread over an area of 4,800 acres and features 95 runs, of which one is as long as 5.5 miles. The resort also includes many terrain parks, such as the 'Groove terrain park' and the 'Cascade terrain park'. The famous Nevada casinos are also just across the border from South Lake Tahoe. The western portion of the city is primarily a residential area.
