Softball is a summer league pastime in most communities. Friends, family, and coworkers get out the mitt and take a few hacks before enjoying a night on the ball field. Now, softball is not always played in this format, and this is not just on the high school level. College softball is a women’s game and is incredibly competitive. The sport has retained so many fans after these players have graduated that National Pro Fastpitch emerged. Thus, softball tickets are now here to enjoy both college and professional athletes.
National Pro Fastpitch formed in 2004 and has thrived with just four teams, the Akron Racers, Chicago Bandits, Carolina Diamonds, and USSSA Pride. Obviously this does not leave a lot of room on the rosters for all those former NCAA stars, but the league is going to expand and the game and these players are going to begin to receive its due respect. Until then, most fans will have to make do with the college game. Luckily, there are more than enough colleges playing the sport at all levels to satisfy this itch and the championship series is big enough to draw crowds from around the country.
