The 2010 World Cup is scheduled to be played from June 11 to July 11 in South Africa. The month of soccer begins with round robin play in groups. There are eight groups, named A through H. The 32 teams play each other once and the teams with the most wins and most points advance to the round of 16. From here on out the World Cup is a single elimination tournament. The World Cup groups each consist of four teams. Group A: has the host country South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay, and France. Group B has Argentina, Nigeria, the Korean Republic, and Greece. Group C has England, the United States, Algeria, and Slovenia. Group D has Germany, Australia, Serbia, and Ghana. Group E has the Netherlands, Denmark, Japan, and Cameroon. Group F has Italy, Paraguay, New Zealand, and Slovakia. Group G has Brazil, Korea DPR, Cote d'Ivoire, and Portugal. Group H has Spain, Switzerland, Honduras, and Chile.
These teams come to play in 10 venues: Soccer City in Johannesburg, Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, Caoe Town Stadium in Cape Town, Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg, Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth, Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein, Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit, and Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg.
