Background - Westham United Fc
Their first top-flight season was in 1923 and at the same time qualified for first FA Cup Final. Their achievements includes winning the FA Cup in 1964, 1975 and 1980. The club has maintained a record of performing for top two divisions. They also acquired their first War Cup in 1940 and Intertoto Cup in 1999. The club was promoted to Premier League for the 2005/06 season and finished at the ninth place. Along with that, West Ham also qualified for FA Cup Final but was defeated by Liverpool. The club has major rivalries with Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and also with Chelsea. But their strongest rivals are Millwall. The club was promoted to Division One in 1923 and the same year won the FA Cup final. In 1932 the club was transferred to Division Two and were stuck there for the next 30 years. However with their consistent performance, the team was qualified for the top level of English football in 1958. West Ham won the FA Cup in 1964 and the following year earned European Cup Winners' Cup. Yet another European Cup Winners' Cup final was achieved in 1976. In 1978, the club was transferred to Division two but managed another FA Cup win in 1980. The following season the club performed their best and was promoted to Division One in 1981. The team were placed in the top division and finished at the 3rd position in 1986. West Ham got promoted to Premier League in May 1993. In 2005-06 season, the club finished at 9th Position and managed to impress their wide fan base with excellent performances. The club gained entry to the UEFA Cup the same year.
