2007 Season Preview
|
 Slowly and steadily, VfL Wolfsburg climbed up the stairs of success and has now emerged as one of the strongest football teams in Germany. The club gathered a number of honors and won many championships. They finally broke into the top tier Oberliga Nord in 1954 by defeating Heider SV. The club advanced from Verbandesliga Niedersachsen (III) to playing in the Regionalliga Nord (II). They remained in the second division for the longest time and finally broke into the Bundesliga. With not so good performance the club was transferred to third division side in the Amateur Oberliga Nord. Finally breaking the circle, VfL Wolfsburg advanced to 2.Bundesliga for the 1992-93 season. Top scorers of the 2006-07 season are Mike Hanke with 8 goals and Diego Fernando Klimowicz with 7 goals. VfL Wolfsburg defeated Bayer Leverkusen with a score of 3 - 2 on 3rd February 2007, defeated Alemania Aachen with a score of 2 - 0 on 27th February 2007, defeated Borussia M'gladbach with a score of 1 - 0 on 3rd March 2007, defeated VfL Bochum with a score of 3 - 1 on 17th March 2007, defeated Mainz with a score of 3 - 2 on 7th April 2007. With excellent performance in the 2006-07 season, the team is all prepared to compete for the 2007-08 season.
