Background - Vfl Bochum
The club originated on July 1848, with initially naming the club as Fußballklub 06 and later on as SV Germania 06 Bochum. After another collaboration the club was named TuS Bochum 1848. The team played their first soccer match against VfL Hamm in 1911. VfL Bochum officially started to play in the 1938-39 season. The club was performing with second place finishes as Schalke 04 dominated them. The Football Club started their performance as VfL Bochum Fussballgemeinschaft in 1848 they played their foremost season in the second division 2.Oberliga West in the year 1949. The association advanced to gather the division title in 1953. They repeated their performance and remained constant to win in 1956. The club stepped up to the top flight but was transferred in the 1960-61 season. The club steadily captured the league table to the Bundesliga in the year 1971. After this the fans witnessed an "elevator side" of the association and they continued their rise at the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga. VfL club finished at 5th place in 1997 and 2004 season of the Bundesliga.

With their remarkable success, the team is prepared to compete for the 2007-08 soccer season. With such victories the team has proved themselves as determined competitors for the upcoming season.
