Background - Tottenham Hotspur
The club originated in 1882 and was previously named Hotspur FC but was renamed Tottenham Hotspur to distinguish them from London Hotspur. The club transformed as a professional team in 1895 and performed at Southern League. In 1900, Tottenham won the title of Southern League and in 1991 won the FA Cup. They also created a record of being the only non-League club to achieve that. They were promoted to Second Division of the Football League in 1908-09 season. With great performance the club was promoted and achieved runners-up title in the First Division. Tottenham won Division Two Champions in 1919-20 and also won their second FA Cup Final the same year by defeating Wolves. The club achieved second position in the League in 1922 and qualified for the quarterfinals of the FA Cup. The club won their First Division Championship in the year 1951. The club won major trophy in the early 1960s, the double in 1961, the FA Cup and European Cup Semi-final in 1962, and the Cup Winners' Cup in 1963. During that Era the club was one of the toughest sides in the country. The club won 1984 UEFA Cup and has record of winning one trophy every two seasons. Club enjoyed third place in 1989-90 and FA Cup win in 1991.

2007 Season Preview

 Tottenham's first Premier League season finished with a mid-table result. After this the club hired Teddy Sheringham, Klinsmann, Nick Barmby, Darren Anderton and Dumitrescu as their line-up. However the new player bought a little difference to the team. With many ups and downs the team could not perform their best. With many transfers and changes in the line-up th club results were moderate. However they perform their best and qualified for Premiership. Glenn Hoddle took over the management of the team in April 2001 that led to some improvement in team's performance for the 2001-02 season. In 2002-03 club finished at top six position. Jacques Santini was hired as head coach in 2004 that led to some improvement in their performance. Club qualified for the UEFA Cup for the 2005-06 season.
Top scorers for the last season, 2006-07 season, were Dimitar Berbatov with 12 goals, Robbie Keane with 11 goals and Jermain Defoe with 10 goals. Tottenham defeated Cardiff on 17th January 2007 with a score of 4-1, defeated Southend on 27th January 2007 with a score of 3-1, defeated Fulham on 18th February 2007 with a score of 4-0, defeated Bolton on 25th February 2007 with a score of 4-1, defeated Watford on 17th march 2007 with a score of 3-1, defeated Middlesbrough on 28th April 2007 with a score of 3-2, defeated Charlton on 7th may 2007 with a score of 2-1.
