Background - Reading Fc
Reading came into existence on 25th December 1871 and was previously nicknamed as The Biscuitmen. The club fluctuated between many stadiums like Reading Cricket Ground (1878–1882), Coley Park (1882–1889) and Caversham Cricket Ground (1889–1896). The club participated in the Third Division of the Football League in 1920 and fluctuated between second, third and fourth tiers. The club was recognized for best performance in the FA Cup in 1926-27. The club defeated Luton Town to win the Simod Cup, in 1988. The club was promoted in the Second Division champions in 1986 but was transferred to the Third Division in 1988. The club was shifted to their current Home ground, Madejski Stadium, in 1998. In 2002, the team was promoted to Division One by performing well in the Division two. In 2004-05 Football League Championship, the club performed fairly well but finished at seventh position. On 25 March 2006 the team was promoted to the Premier League. Reading secured 106 points in the 2nd league and scored 99 goals in that season. In 2006–07 season Reading performed in the top rung of English football for the very first time. The team qualified for the UEFA Cup for the 2006-07 season.

Top scorers from the team in 2006-07 season were Kevin Doyle with 13 goals, Leroy Lita with 7 goals, Stephen Hunt with 4 goals, Seol Ki-Hyeon with 4 goals and Steve Sidwell with 4 goals. Reading defeated West Ham with a score of 6-0 on 1st January 2007, defeated Burnley with a score of 3-2 on 9th January 2007, defeated Sheff Utd with a score of 3-1 on 20th January, defeated Birmingham with a score of 3-2 on 27th January 2007, defeated Man City on 3rd February 2007 with a score of 2-0, defeated Fulham with a score of 1-0 on 14th April 2007, defeated Bolton with a score of 3-1 on 21st April 2007, defeated Newcastle with a score of 1-0 on 30th April 2007.
