Background - Mls Cup
For the 2006 season, the MLS came up with their own version of the 'scudetto' which is basically a symbol worn on the jersey worn by the winning team of the previous season. The MLS scudetto comes in a curved, triangular badge format that features a backdrop of the American flag behind a copy of the Alan I. Rothenberg MLS Cup trophy. The 2005 MLS Cup champion, the Los Angeles Galaxy, became the first team to wear the scudetto. Till date the most successful club at the MLS Cup is D.C. United. The team won the cup four years and once it was the runner-up also. Los Angeles Galaxy and San Jose Earthquakes have won the cup for twice. Whereas Chicago Fire, Kansas City Wizards and Houston Dynamo has emerged as the winning team once each.

The very first winner for the MLS Cup was D.C United. The team registered its win against Los Angeles Galaxy on 20th October 1996 by 3-2. The match was held at Foxboro Stadium, Foxborough, MA. The present holder of the MLS Cup is Houston Dynamo. The team won the match against New England Revolution on November 12, 2006 played at Pizza Hut Park, Frisco, TX. For the 2007 MLS Cup the match is scheduled to take place on November 18 at the RFK Stadium, Washington, D.C.
