Background - Mls All Star Game

But the attempt was not successful as the Real Madrid failed to secure an automatic qualification for the Champions League, and as a result the MLS has to return to their traditional East-West play.
Some selected and prominent football players of MLS All-Stars lead the team in 2005 against the English League side Fulham. The match was played at Columbus Crew Stadium located at Columbus, Ohio due to the reason that Fulham's American forward Brian McBride, who was the MVP of the 1998 MLS All-Star Game and also a former Columbus Crew forward, made a much-awaited return to the city. The 2006 MLS All-Star Game took place at Toyota Park versus English Premier League champions Chelsea. This season witnessed a 1-0 victory for the All-Stars and it really showed a possible sign that the MLS is all set to play major foreign clubs. This win was very important for All-Stars to boost interest and improve the international and domestic perceptions about the quality and talent of MLS players.

2007 Season Preview
|
 The first All-Star Game was held at the Giants Stadium, East Rutherford. The East team won the game by 3-2. In 2006, the MLS All Stars defeated the Chelsea by 1-0 at a very interesting match held at the Toyota Park, Bridgeview, Illinois. In the summer of 2007 MLS All Stars will face one of the world's most renowned club Celtic FC who is presently the Scottish Premier League champions. The game will be played at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, Commerce City, Colorado. This place is the site of the new stadium from where Colorado Rapids will play. The giant Celtic FC has more than a century-old history. The MLS All-Star Game festivities will start with MLS Soccer Jam, on Wednesday, July 18 at Skyline Park in downtown Denver. The venue for the 2008 edition will be held in Toronto, which is the base of the MLS' newest franchise Toronto FC.
