Background - Liverpool Fc
John Houlding founded Liverpool F.C. on 15 March 1892. Initially the club was named Everton Athletic but the idea was dropped and the club was named Liverpool by which they are recognized. The club won Lancashire League that was their first season and participated in the Football League Second Division for the 1893–94 season. After the club achieved victory as the Second Division Champions, they got promoted to the First Division, which is the highest level of English football. Their consistent performance and excellent gaming skills won them their first Football League championship in 1901 and were titleholders again in 1906. Liverpool's first ever FA Cup final was held in 1914 but the team was disappointed as they were defeated by Burnley. The club was headed by Ephraim Longworth during the 1922 and 1923 and won their first ever back-to-back League titles. The team was however transferred to the Second Division in 1954 due to their negative performance.

 The club struggled hard to transfer as the top club sides in Europe under the management of Bill Shankly in 1959. They proved to be one of the strongest teams in the country at that time. The club was promoted to the top division in 1962 and has ever since ruled the top position. In 1964 the club won League Championship title and again in 1966 defeated Leeds to achieve their first ever FA Cup. They won their UEFA Cup, in 1973 by defeating Borussia Mönchengladbach. In 1979, the club achieved the domestic record by scoring sixty-eight points to hold the league title. Under the management of Joe Fagan, the club won the League title, the League Cup and the European Cup all in one season. 2000–01 season was one of the best seasons for Liverpool where the club completed the FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup. The team is considered as a force in the English Football scene by being one of the toughest teams. The team scored 82 points, which is their highest in the top-tier since 1988.
Some of the top scorers of the 2006-07 season were Dirk Kuyt with 12 goals, Peter Crouch with 9 goals, Steven Gerrard with 7 goals and Craig Bellamy with 7 goals.
