Background - Kansas City Wizards
The Kansas City Wizards were known as the Kansas City Wiz during the season of 1996, but they had to change the name due to some sort of copyright dispute. From 1995 until 2006, the owner of the soccer club was Lamar Hunt, who also owned the FC Dallas, Kansas City Chiefs and the Columbus Crew. But after his death, his son looks after the club. The name 'Wizards' is taken from the 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' as the lead character is from Kansas only. Since their birth, the Kansas City Wizards usually play their home games in Arrowhead Stadium. This stadium is also used by the Kansas City Chiefs. The club is looking for sites to build a soccer-specific stadium. Blue and white are the colors of the team. The official supporters' group of the Kansas City Wizards is known by the name of their seating area, 'The Cauldron'. The section has support from another group named "La Doce", who represents the Argentinean Club Atlético Boca Juniors.

Presently, the Head coach for the Kansas City Wizards is Curt Onalfo, while the team's General Manager is Greg Cotton. The present President of the Kansas City Wizards is Robb Heineman. The beginning of the 2007 season is quite good for the team. During the month of April the team played four matches for USA Major League Soccer and out of which they won three matches. They defeated DC United by 4-2, Toronto FC by 3-0 and 1-0. In May 2007, the team defeated Columbus by 1-0 and New England by 4-3. The success rate was also maintained during the month of June by also defeating New York Red Bulls by 3-2.
