The Houston Dynamo is a professional soccer club based in Houston, Texas that participates in Major League Soccer. Having made their MLS debut in 2006, the Dynamo did nothing less than win back-to-back MLS Cup championships in the franchise's first two seasons of existence, 2006 and 2007.

The current home of the Houston Dynamo home is the 32,000-seat Robertson Stadium, located on the University of Houston campus in southeast Houston, where they have played since their MLS inception. A three-year lease was initially signed to play at the stadium while plans for a soccer-specific stadium were finalized, however due to delays in getting a stadium built the team has remained in Robertson Stadium far beyond the original lease. The team is owned by majority owners Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) in partnership with Brener International Group (headed by Gabriel Brener) and, interestingly enough, multiple world and Olympic boxing champion Oscar De La Hoya.

In 2009, the Houston Dynamo finished at atop the Western Conference before eventually losing in the conference final to the Los Angeles Galaxy. This year they will have to find a way to fill the void left by the departure of two of their better players in mid-fielders Ricardo Clark (25 games, 1 goal) and Stuart Holden (29 games, 6 goals, 3 assists), who both left to play in Europe. Mid-fielder Geoff Cameron (32 games, 2 goals, 3 assists) will most likely fill some of the void left in the middle but it may take time for him to gel with the others.
