Background - Everton
Everton's major rival is Liverpool F.C. The club has a special feature to attract sizable crowds for their home games as well as their away games. The club was founded in 1878 and was initially named as St. Domingo F.C. A year after the formation, the club was renamed as Everton F.C. The club was one of the founding members of the Football League. The club won their very first League Championship title in 1890–91. The club also won the FA Cup in 1905–06 and repeated their performance to achieve League title once again in 1914–15. The team has a remarkable record of 60 goals in 39 league games that helped them to achieve their third league title. The team performed their best to return to the top league in 1931–32. This followed their fourth League title. The team also acquired victory over second FA Cup in 1932–33. In 1938–39 season Everton achieved their fifth League title. With consistent performance, the team has maintained their performance all through. Appointment of Howard Kendall as the manager helped the team to climb the ladder of success and win titles like FA Cup in 1983–84 and two league titles in 1984–85 and 1986–87. The club received their foremost European Cup Winners' Cup in 1984–85. The club continued with their good performance and managed to pull huge crowds for their games.

 However the beginning of the 1996–97 season did not bring in too much success for the club. Some of their honors include 9 Charity Shields, European Cup Winners' Cup, 3 FA Youth Cup and 45 Liverpool Senior Cups. Some of the top scorers of the 2006-07 season include Andrew Johnson with 11 goals, Mikel Arteta with 9 goals, Tim Cahill with 5 goals and James Vaughan with 4 goals. Everton defeated Wigan on 21st January 2007 with a score of 2-0, defeated Blackburn on 10th February 2007 with a score of 1-0, defeated Watford on 24th February 2007 with a score of 3-0, defeated Arsenal on 18th March 2007 with a score of 1-0, defeated Fulham on 6th April 2007 with a score of 4-1, defeated Portsmouth on 5th May 2007 with a score of 3-0.
