Background - Dc United
The D.C. United club is the most successful team of the founding ten members of MLS in 1996. The team embarked their name in history by winning the first "double" in modern U.S. soccer history in 1996 where they beat the Los Angeles Galaxy to take home the MLS Cup and they are also the first team to win the U.S. Open Cup. The home ground of the D.C. United club is the famous Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium. With the impressive capacity of 56,692 seats, the stadium is situated on East Capitol Street. The District of Columbia is the owner of this stadium and the D.C. United shares it with another team, the Washington Nationals of major League Baseball. However, there are some plans to build a soccer-specific stadium with the capacity of 27,000 seats just near the Popular Point on the east side of the Anacostia River.

The goal of this agreement is to heighten the sporting and commercial success of both the clubs by sharing their respective expertise and experience as well as working together for new opportunities for them. The soccer team has grown under the guidance of head coaches like Bruce Arena from 1996 to 1998, Thomas Rongen from 1999 to 2001, Ray Hudson from 2002 to 2003, Peter Nowak from 2004 to 2006 and Tom Soehn who was appointed as the head coach in 2006.
There are some changes among players for the 2007 MLS Season. The players selected for this particular season include Nicholas Addlery, Bryan Arguez, Marc Burch Traded, Kasali Yinka Casal, Shawn Crowe, Luciano Emilio, Roland Kpene, Mira Mupier, Jay Nolly, Brad North, Fred, Greg Vanney, Kiki Willis and Domenic Mediate. The current head coach of D.C. United is Tom Soehn. In the CONCACAF Champions Cup matches held in the month of February, D.C United defeated Olimpia by 4-1, and Olimpia by 3-2. The match played against Guadalajara for the same tournament remained draw with 1-1. For the USA Major League tournaments, the team showed the same success rate. Though the match against New England was drawn, they won the other matches played against Chivas USA, Toronto FC and Houston with 2-1 scores. Last month D.C United was in a very good form. They defeated New York Red Bulls by 4-2, Chicago by 3-1 and Colorado by 4-1.
