Background - Chicago Fire
The Chicago Fire was founded on October 8, 1997 on the occasion of the 126th anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. The new Major League Soccer team, the Chicago Fire played its first inaugural season in 1998. The colors for the Chicago Fire are red and white. Originally, the Chicago Fire used to play at Soldier Field. But now the soccer club has their own stadium, Toyota Park. It is located at 71st and Harlem Avenue and is owned by the Village of Bridgeview and it is maintained by AEG, the owners of the Fire. Investor-Operator Philip F. Anschutz and President Robert Sanderman who have two years of Major League Soccer experience with the Colorado Rapids were confident that Chicago could be converted into a successful market for professional soccer. Chicago was a place with a large Latino and Eastern European populations of whom the people living in the suburbs area were very much interested in sports activity. They proved to be a ruler in the very first season by winning the MLS Cup along with the U.S. Open Cup.

Presently, Juan Carlos Osorio is the head coach of the team who was a past assistant coach in the MLS with Red Bull New York. The team has already started the 2007-2008 season with some good scores. They won the match held against New England on 8th April 2007 by 1-0. Chicago Fire also defeated Kansas City with a score of 2-1 on 22nd April and again defeated Houston with a score of 1-0 on 29th April 2007. Results of two matches played against Colorado and Toronto FC remained draw.
