The club originated in 1886,in Woolwich, southeast London and then shifted to Arsenal Stadium, Highbury. The club won the First Division five times in 1930 and 1938 and also won FA Cup twice. However after enjoying huge success during the initial years, the club did not perform that well during the 1950s and 1960s. However, the club won their Inter-Cities Fairs Cup that was their first European trophy for 1969–70 season. One of their classic wins over Manchester United with a score of 3–2, in 1978–79 season is considered as one of their major victories. Arsenal, under the management of George Graham, won the League Cup in 1986–87, followed by a League title win in the year 1988–89. Arsène Wenger was appointed as the manger in 1996, which led to prosperity in their performance. His excellent training techniques propelled them toward better performance. They won the 2002–03 and 2004–05 FA Cups and the Premier League in 2003–04 without a single miss. One of their major plus points include an unbeaten national record. The Arsenal Football Club is the only club to advance for the Champions League quarterfinals in 2005–06. However they could not win the title.
