The Argentinian Premier League is the top football league in Argentina. The 20-team league has provided top-level action for this soccer-obsessed nation since the late 20th century. In fact, this was the first professional football league organized outside of the British Isles. Organized in the European-style, the league has two domestic cups, the Copa Argentina and Supercopa Argentina, and its clubs compete in two international cups, the Copa Libertadores and Copa Suamericana.

Every sports league has its dominant clubs, and the Argentinian Premier League is not any different. The Buenos Aires River Plate, the Buenos Aires Boca Juniors, and the Avellaneda Indepeniente have won the vast majority of the season titles. If a team is not up to par, then they are relegated, as is called for in a European-style legal. In this case, the team is sent down to Primera B Nacional.
