The city of Sarasota is located on the state of Florida, United States. The city falls in the Sarasota County and is the county-seat of the same. As per the United States Census Bureau, the population of the city stood at 54,349 in the year 2004.

Sarasota lies in the 'Sarasota-Bradenton-Venice, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area' and is one the principal cities of the same. It is on the southwestern coast of Florida and many barrier islands between the bay and the Gulf of Mexico are a part of the city. As per the U.S Census Bureau, the city covers a total area of 25.9 sq miles, of which 57.42% is land.

Sarasota has a major golfing tradition and has several golf courses, such as the Sara Bay course and the Sarasota Community Course. The annual 'UPA ultimate Frisbee national tournament' is also hosted in the city. The Ed Smith Stadium is a famous sporting venues in the city, which has been home and training grounds to reputable teams, such as Cincinnati Reds and Sarasota Reds.
