San Diego, CA
San Diego is a jewel on the southern coast of California. It is often times referred to as the nicest place to live in the United States. This is not just due to the weather, which is quite nice. It is also because the city has much to offer in terms of live entertainment.
The city has its share of sports teams. The San Diego Padres bring MLB baseball to PETCO Park and the San Diego Chargers play NFL football at Qualcomm Stadium. This city is not limited to teams in the major leagues. A number of clubs play in the relative minor leagues, like the San Diego Surf of the American Basketball Association.
San Diego also has an amazing theater scene. The most important venue in this city is the La Jolla Playhouse. The theatre is famous as a preview venue for major dramatic works and big musicals on their way to win Tony Awards on Broadway. This is not to diminish the importance of the Balboa Theatre and San Diego Civic Theatre.
As far as music venues go, San Diego brings a number of terrific acts to the House of Blues, the Casbah, and Spreckels Theatre. These stages, along with the many small venues, make up the nucleus of a great music scene.
