Roseanne Barr Tickets for Sale
Roseanne Barr is probably one of America's funniest comedians. Born on November 3, 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah, she combined her blue-collar upbringing with her quick, caustic wit and humor to get laughs. She spent most of her time in local stand up comedy clubs. On 23 August 1985, Roseanne made her national TV debut, on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. This marked the turning point in her career, and she was deluged with job offers thereafter. In 1987 HBO offered Roseanne her own show, The Roseanne Barr Show. However, after a short period of time it was eventually canceled. In 1988 NBC and ABC offered Roseanne her own comedy series called Roseanne. Roseanne dealt with real life issues in the lower-middle class working family. She met and fell in love with Tom Arnold, who she divorced four years later. In 1996, Roseanne was nominated and won a Golden Globe award. In 1998, Roseanne was the host of her own daytime talk show that lasted two seasons.
She claimed to have been an incest survivor, accusing both parents of physical and sexual abuse in an interview with People magazine in 1991. The charges have been denied however. In 2004, after reconciling with her parents, she reverted to the name "Roseanne Barr". Roseanne is a spokeswoman for various pro-choice groups. She has defended pro-choice views in articles such as "The Advocate," and has appeared at benefits sponsored by pro-choice organizations such as the Feminist Majority Foundation. She also defends a women's right to choose in several episodes of Roseanne. Roseanne has always been the target of critics for her shocking behavior and "in-your-face" approach to life and her career. It's been Roseanne's determination and strong will that has allowed her to overcome hardship and become one of Hollywood's most powerful and successful female television stars.
