Rodney Crowell is well known for his contribution in the traditionalist movement that was started in mid- '80s and hailed as a leader of this movement. This great star was born on August 7, 1950, in Houston, TX. Rodney's childhood was very conducive for the development of his talent, as his family had a great respect for music. Crowell's first band was named as "Arbitrators" that was formed while he was in the school. In 1972 Crowell moved to Nashvile to pursue his dreams and to become a professional musician. There he teamed up with singer/songwriters Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark. Crowell achieved his first big success as a lounge singer, where he was noticed by Jerry Reed. Crowell's big hit "You Can't Keep Me Here in Tennessee" grab the attention of Reed and his manager. After two days Crowell was signed by Reed and his song was recorded. In 1975, Crowell decided to move to Los Angeles where he joined Emmylou Harris' Hot Band and got a status as a guitarist, and soon started writing. He wrote many hits like "Bluebird Wine," "Leaving Louisiana in" and "Till I Gain Control Again". In 1977, Crowell decided to create his own group named as "The Cherry Bombs," and in 1978 released there first album, "Ain't Living long like this."

In 1980, Crowell came with his own first hit, "Ashes by Now," that was rated as a top 40 pop crossover success. His next album "Stars on the Water," was a mixture of both pop and country and proved as a great success. In 1981, he released his third LP; it was a very hardworking effort but couldn't achieve the kind of commercial success that his earlier albums had received. In 1985, he came with his masterpiece "Rhythm and Romance". Crowell's life took a serious turn when he divorced from Cash in 1991. He switched over to MCA Records and came up with "Let the Picture Paint Itself" in1994. In 1998, Crowell married Singer Claudia Church, after this he came up with his next album "What's the Matter with You Baby." This was his first album since 1995 followed by "Houston Kid" in 2001. He continued his work, as he released Fate's "Right hand in 2003" that was followed by "Outsider" in 2005.
