Rihanna tried her hand at acting and walked away with a Teen Choice Award, but now she returns to music after taking a year off and has a new album and brand new world tour to entice her millions of fans and stir up a million articles worth of controversy. The latest album is Unapologetic and the new Rihanna tickets are for the Diamonds World Tour, a concert series taking the name of the first hit single from the soon to be certified and chart-topping studio work.
In her relatively brief career she has released seven studio albums and embarked on five world tours. This is impressive for a woman who still tops the Hottest Singers Under 25 list. The album is coming out in November 2012, but the single released in late summer, just about the time ads for DVDs for Battleship starting airing. The mid-tempo ballad is all pop and infused with an ‘80s beat and production, but just short of inspiring criticism for over production. If the song is any indication, Rihanna’s next album is going to be a pop dance recording embracing the electronic developments in the dancehalls.
The Diamonds World Tour follows in 2013. So far the only leg announced is the first North American leg, one beginning in Buffalo on March 8, 2013 and ending in New York City at the newest major concert venue, the Barclays Center on May 7, 2013. In between just about every city with a large enough of a population to be called urban is on the dance card. Expect much of the same with a trip across the Atlantic to continental Europe and the trip further east to Asia and Australia. This is going to be another hit in her catalog of live performances.
Expect to hear at least a couple of her past hits, like We Found Love and S&M. Rihanna may not be the Only Girl in the World to be globetrotting, but she is likely to be one of the most exciting, after her one year hiatus from the spotlight. Rihanna tickets for this series of shows are certainly going to be sold with such lofty expectations.
