Ray Price dons the hat of an American country and western singer/songwriter/guitarist with ease and aplomb. "Release Me", "Crazy Arms", "Heartaches By the Number", "City Lights", "My Shoes Keep Walking Back To You", "For The Good Times", "I Won't Mention It Again", "The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me", and "Danny Boy" are just a few of his well known singles. In 1996, Ray was inducted to the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Born Ray Noble Price near Perryville, Texas, on Jan. 12, 1926, Price served in the Marines. After the service, he planned to become a veterinarian however life had something else in store for him. He started singing on KRBC in Abilene, Texas in 1948 and a year later joined the "Big D Jamboree" in Dallas. From there on he went to Nashville and shared a room with Hank Williams. After the death of Williams, Price assumed the leadership of his band, the Drifting Cowboys, and tasted minor success.

Price became one of the stars of the grinding, honky-tonk music that had become very popular in the beginning of the 1950s. He formulated the famous "Ray Price Shuffle Beat" that can be heard on "Crazy Arms." In 1953, Price started his popular band, the Cherokee Cowboys and artists like Roger Miller, Willie Nelson and Johnny Paycheck have been its member at one time or the other. Ray Price's 1958 classic "Invitation to the Blues," was composed by Miller. Apart from being loved by country music fans Price was also liked by pop music fans for his songs 1967 "Danny Boy" and "For the Good Times" in 1970. "For the Good Times" peaked at #11 on the pop chart and had a mellowed price backed up by sophisticated musical sounds. His 1970's, "I Won't Mention It Again", "She's Got To Be A Saint", and "You're the Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me" too peaked at #1 on country charts. His songs found place on the country chart through 1989. Of late he has been singing gospel music and has recorded songs like "Amazing Grace", "What A Friend We Have in Jesus", "Farther Along" and "Rock of Ages." Price sill loves to hit the road and perform throughout the country. Price released the album ‘Last of the Breed' in 2007. He had collaborated with artists such as; Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard for the album. After the release of the album the trio hit the road in support of it.
