The city of Rancho Mirage is located in the state of California, United States. Rancho Mirage falls in the County of Riverside. According to the 2000 United States Census, the population of the city stands at 13,249. However, as a result of heavy tourism, the population of the city is known to fluctuate tremendously and often reaches the figure of 20,000.

Rancho Mirage is situated between the cities of Cathedral City and Palm Desert, and it lies in the Cathedral Valley. The city was incorporated in the year of 1973 by amalgamating five unincorporated areas, which were formerly known as the 'cove communities'. As per the United States Census Bureau, the city covers an area of 24.7 square miles, of which 98.38% is land.

Rancho Mirage is known to be a popular vacationing spot and over the years, it has featured the holiday destinations of many famous names, such as 'Frank Sinatra', 'Bob Hope', 'Fred Astaire', 'Ginger Rogers', 'Mary Martin', 'Harry Caray', 'Lloyd Campbell' and 'Gerald Ford'. Some of these golf courses are the 'Thunderbird Guest Ranch', the 'Tamarisk', the 'Mission Hills', 'Morningside', the 'Mission Hills North Course', the 'Westin Hotels Mission Hills resort' and 'Tuscania'. Another popular destination is the 'Agua Caliente Casino'. The casino features many specialties, such as a 12-story hotel, the two golf courses, tennis courts, a shopping mall and a convention center-sports arena.
