Pixies Tickets for Sale
Pixies tickets are concert tickets to see one of the most influential alternative rock bands of all time. In fact, the band has become far more famous in the years after the 1993 break up than before. The Pixies have been on tour since last year to promote and celebrate the re-release of Doolittle, perhaps the best known Pixies album to date. The tour continues through 2011 with a set list comprised exclusively of tracks from Doolittle.
The Pixies reunited back in 2004 after spending 11 years apart. The reunion brought Black Francis, Joey Santiago, Kim Deal, and David Lovering back together. In the year prior they had spoken on the phone and even begun rehearsing. They officially reconvened as the Pixies at the Fine Line Music Café in Minneapolis, MN. News of the concert quickly spread and soon alternative and indie rock fans across the continents were searching for Pixies concert tickets to see this group on tour. The tour became official with the release of the new single "Bam Thwok" and an appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
In the years since the reunion, the Pixies have appeared at major music festivals like Lollapalooza and the Newport Folk Festival. The band has disavowed any rumors of a new album, just as they did the reunion. Several years later it appears there will definitely not be a new studio album, as the Pixies and their fans are perfectly content touring to promote the re-release of the album Doolittle. The tour began in 2009 and has been going strong ever since, featuring a Doolittle-centric set list played throughout North America, South America, and Europe.
Pixies tickets first sold way back in 1986 a few years after Joey Santiago and Black Francis had met at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The two jammed and worked together. In January 1986 Santiago and Francis added Kim Deal and David Lovering. The lineup was set from then on, Black played rhythm guitar and sang vocals, Santiago played lead guitar, Deal played bass and sang, and Lovering played drums.
The Pixies developed a sound that married surf rock and punk rock, an unlikely union that delivered the heart thumping energy of punk with the yowling, lingering vocals of a night by the surf. The sound would make the band stars underground. From 1986 to 1993, the Pixies released five albums and EPs – Come On Pilgrim (1987), Surfer Rosa (1988), Doolittle (1989), Bossanova (1990), and Trompe le Monde (1991).
Surfer Rosa introduced the Pixies to the world, going Gold, and Doolittle went platinum, the band's only album to sell so well in the United States. Pixies tickets would sell for countless tours, as the band had become a major album sales success. The constant pressure of performing concert and the creative rift growing between Francis and Deal forced a hiatus following the tour schedule for Doolittle.
In 1990 three quarters of the band (sans Deal) moved to Los Angeles to be closer to the record company. Despite the tension, the Pixies recorded two more albums, which found a place in the hearts of alternative rock fans in the UK, and sold Pixies concert tickets for the a couple more years before finally breaking up via fax in 1993.
