Petula Clark's first brush with lime light was during World War II . During the war she used to entertain soldiers through concerts and on radio. Before age of nine she had already preformed more than 200 shows for the troops. She had amassed so much popularity in England that she received an invitation for singing at Trafalgar Square marking the celebrations for victory in war.
In 1994 she had a performance at Royal Albert Hall of London. During this performance film director Maurice Elvey saw her and gave her an opportunity to act in his film ' Medal for the General'. After this movie she acted in numerous films in a short period such as ' London Town', ' Strawberry Roan', ' I Know Where I'm Going' and ' Here Come the Huggetts'.
In 1946 she started with her career in television. She appeared in Cabaret Cartoons, a BBC variety show. She then hosted a self tilted television series. In 1949 she hosted Pet's Parlour. From 1972 to 74 she was seen in The Sound of Petula and in 1966 in This is Petula Clark. In 1949 she released her first recording 'Music! Music! Music!' in Australia. Her father and Alan A. Freeman started their own label Polygon Records with the aim to manage the singing career of his daughter. In 1950's she gave many hits like in United Kingdom like ' Majorca', ' The Little Shoemaker', ' With All My Heart' and ' Suddenly There's a Valley'.
In 1958 she got an invitation for show at prestigious Olympia in Paris. She garnered lot of praise there.

Petula Clark embarked on extensive tours in United Kingdom in 1998 and 2002. In 2000 at St. Denis Theatre in Montreal she presented a highly acclaimed one woman show written by her. The show highlighted her career and life. In 2004 she held concerts at New Zealand and Australia. Her shows at Hummingbird Centre in Toronto, Hilton in Atlantic City, Mohegan Sun in Connecticut and Humphrey's in San Diego all witnessed sold out audience.
