With this album he won Latin Grammy award. He was the first regional music singer from Mexico to perform at Hollywood Bowl of Los Angeles. Pepe is also the first Hispanic who performed at Kodak Theater of Los Angeles. 15th September, 2003 is day of independence of Mexico. At a ceremony attended by 20,000 people he for the city of Los Angeles got the symbolic keys. In 2003 he also release two more CDs.
In July 2004 Pepe Aguilar was signed by Sony music. In 2004 he released ' No soy de nadie' meaning ' I Don't Belong to Anyone'. For many years there have been rumors about contention between him and another famous Mexican singer Alejandro Fernandez. Both the musicians have never confirmed or denied these rumors.
