Paul Potts
Paul Potts is the British tenor that wowed audiences first on the first season of Britain's Got Talent in 2007. Since finding fame as a Carphone Warehouse manager turned professional singer, Potts tickets have been sold around the world and he has won awards and fans from Europe to America to Japan.
Before he entered the first season of Britain's Got Talent, he was a man who had been forced to put his dreams of becoming a professional singer on hold as financial troubles became too much. Potts, born October 13, 1970 in Kingswood, England, was bullied as a child, but found solace in his voice, dreaming selling Potts tickets for opera and classical concerts around the globe. He followed that dream performing in karaoke competitions, competing in talent competitions, and even paying for voice tutelage in Italy.
However, after several amateur operas and health problems, he put his dream on hold, finding himself working at a Carphone Warehouse. Then the first season of a Simon Cowell's Britain's Got Talent gave him another shot at greatness. Potts bowled over the crowd with a rendition of Giacomo Puccini's "Nessun Dorma," receiving a standing ovation. He was equally as great in the semi-finals with Andrea Bocelli's "Con te partiro," eventually winning the television talent competition.
