Patti LaBelle Tickets for Sale

Patti LaBelle has sung throughout the decades, with her wide vocal range enabling her to put out hits as an R&B, soul, pop, disco, and funk artist. The career that has spanned five decades with gold records and sold millions of Patti Labelle tickets all started in 1958 at the age of fourteen when a school teacher encouraged her to start a girl group. Originally performing as the Ordettes, her girl group slowly began to unravel until the only member left from the original four was Patti LaBelle herself, then known by her real name Patsy Holte.

The girl group, then made up of Patti LaBelle, Nona Hendryx, Cindy Birdsong, and Sarah Dash, were a long way from playing well-known, or even respectable venues. Instead the group, the Ordettes, was playing honky tonks and truck stops at the end of the ‘50s and into the early ‘60s. Their break came when the president of Blue Note Records signed the group, on the condition that they change their name. Eventually, the name was changed to Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles.

The first Top 40 pop success by Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles came shortly after in 1962 with "I Sold My Heart to the Junkman". The hit started a decade full of hit singles and four years later the group had its first gold record, Over the Rainbow. By the ‘70s Birdsong had left the group and they were forced to reevaluate their direction. Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles became the Labelle.

The name change came with a change in sound as the doo-wop gave way to a more mature sound with elements of gospel, funk, disco, soul and glam rock. Labelle's lyrics touched issues such as racism, sexism, and politics and were hailed by critics. Unfortunately, commercial success followed slowly and arrived in 1974 with the album Nightbirds, four years after change in sound and style.

Patti LaBelle did not venture off on her own until 1977 and only after Nona Hendryx nervous breakdown forced the group to disband. Her self-titled debut would break the cycle of having to wait for success, going gold in 1977. She sold tickets and albums as an ever changing artist without limits because of her range.

Though she would go gold often, she did not have another chart success until 1983 when I'm in Love Again peaked at number 40 on the U.S. charts and number four on the R&B charts. Patti LaBelle's stage show became famous for her wild hair, kicking off her shoes, rolling over the floor while singing, and pushing the microphone stand down and kicking it back up.

The rest of career has been marked by hits on the R&B charts, gold records, and personal tragedy. She lost her last sister to cancer in the ‘90s, leaving her as the last member of her family and with six children to take care of. To this day Patti LaBelle tickets are sure to draw a wide audience for all her years in music. Online Seats has those tickets along with a full tour schedule. At very affordable prices it is possible for anyone to see the Patti LaBelle perform in concert.
