One Direction has crossed dominated the UK and is now crossing the Atlantic Ocean to embark on a North American tour with Big Time Rush. One Direction tickets for these concert dates are still part of the Up All Night Tour, a tour that began on December 18, 2011 and set to last until July 1, 2012. This debut headlining concert tour included 27 shows in Europe, 7 in Oceania, and now 29 in North America.

The trip in North America begins May 24, 2012 in Fairfax, Virginia at the Patriot Center and ends on July 1, 2012 in Jonesboro, Arkansas at the ASU Convocation Center. Every headlining tour needs an opening act, and that act is Olly Murs. Olly Murs is fellow X Factor alumnus and is along for the ride to introduce himself to a new audience to promote a new album, In Case You Didn't Know. Of Course, One Direction is celebrating the album for which the tour is named. In addition to the tour being the group's first in North America, it is leading up to an even bigger UK and Ireland Arena Tour from February 22 to April 19, 2013.

One Direction History

Sometimes it is best to finish second, not first in a televised talent show. In this case, finishing third proved to be enough to launch a career. One Direction competed in the 2010 competition of the X Factor in the UK and lost to Rebecca Ferguson and Matt Cardle. However, these five young men from Ireland have managed to become a bigger sensation than the runner up and the winner. And this would never have been if not for a little advice from Nicole Scherzinger.

The former televised talent show winner suggested Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, who had each auditioned as solo singers, form one act. The quintet joined Simon Cowell's team and seduced millions of UK pre-teen and teen girls with lyrics celebrating puppy love. Though they would not win, Cowell signed the group in the UK and Columbia Records signed them in North America. One Direction released the single "What Makes You Beautiful" and set up a debut album with a number one single. The album, Up All Night, followed with a peak at number two in the UK and number one in the U.S.

One Direction made such an impact that some believe the group is part of a new British Invasion. All five can sing and they have the signature clean cut, parent friendly collection of songs ensuring them a place in the hearts of pre-teens and young teens still watching Disney and Nickelodeon shows. Now, the group merely needs to establish itself as a great live act to pave a path toward lasting fame and fortune.
