The Montreal Canadiens have been the poster franchise for injuries in the NHL over the last few seasons. Whether it is the now annual leave of absence by Andrei Markov or posting the second-most games lost to injury, this proud hockey franchise has seen its organizational depth put to the test and flail time and time again. Well, a new general manager has arrived and Marc Bergevin has begun rebuilding a roster with balance. This is not to say Montreal Canadiens tickets are going to be featured in the Stanley Cup, but those fans willing to brave the cold will not be wasting their time at the Bell Center.

This season expect Andre Markov to be healthy, or at least pray that he is able to lodge some major time on the ice. He is a terrific passer and even can play puck ninja, scoring on back door passes. He is matched with P.K. Subban as the defensemen playing with the first line.

The star players on the forward line are Max Pacioretty and Tomas Plekanec. Pacioretty broke out last season on the left wing and Plekanec has been a solid fan favorite who gets an “A” for effort and has enough skill to transcend the third line and lead the first line (though he will be on the second).

Venturing deeper into the roster, Travis Moen and Brandon Prust have been added to bully those hockey teams that have made a sport out of scaring the Habs out of scoring the last few seasons. They make this team tougher and this helps those front line players built to score. It also should give Carey Price a bit of a break in goal as he will not be facing an onslaught of shots. Price may even repeat his profound career year from two seasons ago. These Canadiens are still going to have to overachieve to play in the postseason, but they are at least changing momentum and beginning a return to greatness in Montreal.
