Atlanta Thrashers Tickets

As anemic as the offense was for the Thrashers, their goaltending situation didn't help matters. Ondrej Pavelec appeared in 58 games for the Thrashers but struggled with a 21-23-9 record and a save percentage of .914. Chris Mason also saw time in net during the season and finished 13-13-3 with a goals against average of 3.39. If the Thrashers aren't able to lure a top flight free agent or bring in any better talent up front, a change in goal may lessen the burden on the offense in 2011-2012.

Heading into the NHL offseason, the Thrashers have more questions than answers. Goaltending and lack of scoring punch top their off-season checklist. For a franchise that has been anything but successful, luring top flight talent will be a hard sell. With a top ten draft pick, the Thrashers brain trust may want to look into finding their next franchise player or perhaps a better idea may be to trade the pick. While no team likes to tell their fans the Thrashers are in a rebuilding mode, that's what the Thrashers are in; and if they can add a couple extra picks by trading down, it may be in their best interest to listen to all offers.

Atlanta Thrashers

Atlanta Thrashers 2013 Season

The 2010-2011 NHL regular season ended in a sadly familiar way for those who purchased Atlanta Thrashers tickets. The Thrashers were once again on the outside looking in for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Since their inception in the 1999-2000 season, the Thrashers have only once made it to the playoffs. They were swept out of those playoffs in four games by the New York Rangers.

Even worse for the Thrashers is they are the only professional sports team in their home city not to make the playoffs as fans of Hotlanta have got the pleasure of seeing the Braves, Falcons and Hawks all play in their leagues' second seasons. The effect of those disappointing seasons can be felt at the box office. The Atlanta Thrashers ranked 27th out of 30 teams in attendance, only beating out the Islanders, Coyotes and Blue Jackets.

One of the biggest problems the Thrashers faced was the lack of a true superstar or go to scoring threat. With the loss of franchise's best player Illya Kovalchuk, the Thrashers' were left with a roster full of mediocre players. Two of the top three scorers on the roster were blue-liners Dustin Byfuglien and Tobias Enstrom. Enstrom led the team in assists with 41; and Byfuglien tallied 20 goals, which was good for second behind Andrew Ladd who scored 29 and led the team with 59 points overall. Sadly for the Thrashers Ladd and Byfuglien were the only two on the team to score more than 20 goals.
