Philadelphia Flyers Tickets
The Flyers are currently in last place in the Atlantic Division with 41 points based on their 19-19-3 record. As a team that was projected as a Stanley Cup contender, Philadelphia is barely keeping their heads above water in the division, much less the Eastern Conference (12th) and entire NHL (23rd). The Flyers are pretty much an ordinary team at this point – with records of 9-9-2 at home and 10-10-1 on the road. They also rank in the middle of the pack in the NHL in goals per game (14th, 2.78) and goals allowed per game (18th, 2.83), while their success on the power play (5th, 21.4 percent) is countered by their penalty killing troubles (23rd, 78.9 percent). In other words, Philadelphia is extraordinarily ordinary – something that general manager Paul Holmgren undoubtedly had not anticipated as he entered the season just under the NHL's payroll limit of $56.8 million. Basically most everything is split down the middle and fixable in time for a run in the second half of the season, but the Flyers will need to rely on the strength and leadership of center Mike Richards (34 points and +/- 5 rating on 17 goals and 17 assists), defenseman Chris Pronger (25 points and +/- 11 rating on 5 goals and 20 assists), and improved goaltending from Ray Emery (11-8 and 2.83 GAA) if they truly wish to improve and be more than just ordinary. One look at the Flyers roster might suggest the team would have a much better record, but games are played on the ice, not on paper, and they are seemingly exactly where they deserve to be at this point of the season. Philadelphia needs to recognize that, and needs to begin consistently playing like one of the top teams in the NHL. Instead of settling for being extraordinarily ordinary, as they were the first half of the season, the Flyers need to regroup in the second half and play to their potential. That being the case, fans need to get their Philadelphia Flyers tickets now so the seats are filled when they do make the change from ordinary also-rans to playoff contenders.

Philadelphia Flyers History
|
The Philadelphia Flyers were part of the first group of expansion teams allowed into the NHL in 1967. The original ownership group included Bill Putnam, Jerry Wolman, and Ed Snider. The Flyers immediately purchased an American Hockey League (AHL) team, the Quebec Aces, giving the team depth and experience that would be helpful in the near future. They played in a brand new facility called the Spectrum. Before the end of their first season, Jerry Wolman was forced out due to financial problems and Ed Snider gained majority control of the team along with his partners, Bill Putnam and Joe Scott. The Flyers played their first NHL game in October, 1967 against the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Spectrum. Thanks to mother nature they would soon have to look for an alternate home later that year as the roof of the Spectrum was blown off in a fierce winter storm. This brought them north to Le Colisee in Quebec City, their home for a month as the Spectrum was fixed. The Flyers moved back to their home rink just in time for their first playoff appearance as they took on the St Louis Blues. The Blues prevailed that year in a close seven game series.
