Pay no heed to the passing defense numbers. Jeff Fisher is the single greatest defensive addition of the offseason. His mustache alone will make this a Top 10 run defense by the end of the season and no matter how many yards the secondary allows, the corners can catch. Thus, St. Louis Rams tickets for the rest of the 2012 regular season to the Edward Jones Dome will see a team with ever increasing numbers. In fact, perhaps the biggest factor with regards to the improvement of the passing defense is the health of the offensive line.

The Rams offensive line is a mess right now. The St. Louis trainers are on 24-hour duty trying to get this unit back to health so Steven Jackson can sport a far more worthy yard per carry average. His 2.5 yards after Week 1 is not indicative of the type of beast he truly is with ball in his hands. The Rams will be able to run down the clock and keep the defense fresh.

St. Louis does not expect to be butting heads with the San Francisco 49ers for the lead in the NFC West. They would be thrilled if, in addition to a dramatically improved defense by the end of the regular season, Sam Bradford could transform himself into something more than a game manager. He has all the physical makeup of a prototypical quarterback. Bradford has the size, the speed, and the accuracy. He also has learned how to extend his life in the pocket to give his receivers a chance to shine. Danny Amendola had his moments over the last couple of seasons, but would like far more Sportcenter highlights.

It is unclear who else will be making an impact. Brandon Gibson, journeyman Steve Smith, and rookie Brian Quick all have hopes of starting opposite Amendola. Right now Gibson has the job, as he has the most experience with Bradford. He is not a playmaker though, and this gives Smith and Quick every opportunity to steal some targets.
