 Lions tickets have been sold since 1929 and it must be stated that this has not always been a beleaguered franchise. The Detroit Lions won four NFL championships in the days before the Super Bowl, winning in 1935, 1952, and 1957. Obviously, the 1950s were very good to the Lions. Quarterback Bobby Layne was with the team for all three championships and was a five-time Pro Bowl selection during this decade. Later, the Lions would enjoy the play of Barry Sanders, whose running style confounded the opposition and sometimes his own team. The Detroit Lions would enter the playoffs six times with him in the backfield, but would ultimately fall short, most often in the Wild Card round.
