At 8-5 and with the final three regular season games being played against the Raiders, Eagles, and Chiefs the Denver Broncos are going to the playoffs. They will not be going with a first round bye as many people thought they would after starting the season 6-0. The Broncos even have a chance to catch the Chargers with two easy wins coming up at home at Invesco Field at Mile High against the Raiders and Chiefs. The Eagles is the only real challenge left. The Eagles are trying to fight off the Giants and Cowboys, so the Broncos will have to give everything they have to win this one. Denver has earned a reprieve from the calls of collapse after losing four straight following the unforeseen start. The Broncos have won two of the last three and just lost to the perfect Indianapolis Colts. The team wins with a good defense that is among the stingiest in terms of points allowed and an offense does its best to play a balanced game. QB Kyle Orton has had a good season in his first season after the blockbuster trade that sent Jay Cutler to the Bears. He should surpass 3,000 yards and has put up a respectable touchdown number at 16. His main target is Brandon Marshall. Marshall has 86 receptions for 1,008 yards and nine touchdowns. After Marshall, the ball is spread out between Jabar Gaffney, Tony Scheffler, and Eddie Royal. The running game has been in search of a feature back. Rookie Knowshon Moreno was supposed to own it, but he has a difficult time overtaking Correll Buckhalter to become the man. Moreno is still the main guy, but he is still splitting carries with Buckhalter which is far from a bad thing in today's NFL. Few teams run the football with one feature back anymore. The Denver defense needs to keep forcing turnovers to support this at times stagnant offense. Still, with eight wins it is hard to argue against this team.
