The Carolina Panthers began the season continuing the atrocious brand of football that led to a quick dismissal from the playoffs last season. They went 0-3 and then came back from their fourth week bye week seeking some sort of redemption, winning two in a row and three of their five on the schedule. Suddenly this team has found its running game again and Jake Delhomme has cut down on the mistakes as they go into Week 10 3-5. Delhomme threw 7 interceptions in those first three games, but has cut down on those errant throws by shortening his game. He had to do something after throwing three more picks in Week 7 against the lowly Buffalo Bills. The Panthers offense has been rolling while running the football of late. Running back DeAngelo Williams has rushed for 149 yards or more in three of the last four games. Even in the game he did not he ran for over 5 yards a carry. Running back Jonathan Stewart has not been too bad either. If the Carolina Panthers can return to the run game and their two feature backs stop fumbling then this team could turning a decent record over the last eight games on their schedule. It would be difficult to assign blame to the Carolina Panthers defense since the offense has 24 turnovers and it is always difficult to maintain a good scoring defense when defending a short field. However, much of the blame for the 24.8 points allowed per game falls on the front seven and their inability to stop the run. They have allowed 122.1 yards per game. This NFL might be a passing league, but a team cannot let another offense run all over them and still win games. The Panthers season is far from over and the team still has five games left on the schedule at home at Bank of America Stadium.
