Utah Jazz Tickets

Last season the Utah Jazz made the playoffs despite having one of the worst backcourts in the NBA. This season the backcourt has been upgraded to average, but the front court is perhaps too deep at the four and five. One move and the backcourt may go from average to good and the Utah Jazz could spend the 2012-2013 season proving last season’s postseason appearance was no mirage. Energy Solutions Arena will be filled with fans with Utah Jazz tickets who believe this season they will once again be given the opportunity to see action beyond the regular season schedule.

This average backcourt now starts Mo Williams at point with Jamaal Tinsley and Earl Watson fighting for minutes as his backup. Gordon Hayward remains the starting two-guard, though Randy Foye will be pushing him to be more than an athlete. Yes, the general consensus on the boy form Butler is that he is a very good athlete with the mentality of a scorer but only average skills. He did not show up in the playoffs after putting together a good regular season. He needs to up his numbers again if he does not want to be replaced by a spot up shooter.

Why would Coach Tyrone Corbin choose to go with a spot up shooter? Well, the interior is crowded with Al Jefferson and Paul Milsap starting at the five and four and Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors two young big men with potential. Small forward Marvin Williams is not a consistent threat from outside either, so this lineup needs someone to hit the three to spread the court and give these big guys room to score.

Really, one of these big guys may have to be moved to give the league another talented big man. Either Favors or Kanter or both are likely to see their potential wasted by the time on the bench. Since big men are always a hot commodity in the NBA, it is likely GM Dennis Lindsey will be able to turn one of these guys into a better wing player or a young point guard. The most likely candidate for relocation has to be Al Jefferson. He has one year left on his contract and is a solid 19-10 guy. Contenders are going to be looking for big men to compete with the likes of Dwight Howard, further shifting the market in the Jazz’s favor.
