Phoenix Suns Tickets
The Phoenix Suns quickly became a team to beat after starting their NBA history in 1968. The first season finished with a dismal 16-66 record, but by 1976 the Suns were in the NBA Finals. The 1975-76 team battled the odds, entering the playoffs with a 42-40 record and fighting through Seattle and Golden State on the way to meet the Celtics in the championship series.
Phoenix was not a particularly impressive team on paper, with its best players being Connie Hawkins, Leonard Robinson, Alvin Adams, and Neal Walk. The Suns followed were far more impressive though, and their record after the regular season schedule illustrated that. Walter Davis, James Edwards, and others were regular 50-game winners in the early 1980s, but soon a drug scandal left the Suns reeling.
By the late 1980s, the Phoenix Suns had rebuilt. Phoenix had Tom Chambers, Kevin Johnson, Tyrone Corbin, and Dan Majerle consistently found a place in the Western Conference Finals. The trade that brought Charles Barkley over from Philadelphia put the Phoenix Suns over the edge and took the team to the NBA Finals. There, the Suns met the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls would win that 1993 NBA Finals and the team would not be able to make another run like that through the rest of the decade.
The Phoenix Suns struggled to find the right players to get back into the playoff mix, trying Jason Kidd and Stephon Marbury. Neither point guard could consistently take the Suns to the postseason. Phoenix gambled and signed Steve Nash to a multi-year deal despite the fact that he was over 30.
The risk came with a reward. The Phoenix Suns became one of the most entertaining and competitive teams in the league. Nash ran a Mike D'Antoni offense that was known for its seven seconds or less policy. Few teams could keep up with the scoring of the Suns from 2004 to 2007. The Phoenix Suns could not turn the high powered offense into an NBA Finals appearance, despite several close calls (the Spur were the main culprit).

Phoenix Suns 2009-10
|
The Phoenix Suns are perennially one of the better teams in the Western Conference, and usually the entire NBA. Take a healthy Amar'e Stoudemire, combine him with Steve Nash, and you have one of the best 1-2 punches in the league, and if fans are looking for a return to running basketball in Phoenix, the Suns are very likely to provide them with what they want. While Nash does not have many shooters to pass to on the perimeter other than Jason Richardson, there is the presence of Grant Hill, Earl Clark, and Leandro Barbosa, to help out Nash and Richardson on the perimeter, while Stoudemire, Robin Lopez, and Channing Frye, will be controlling the inside game. Last season was not a happy or predictable one in Phoenix; even with a winning record, the Suns missed out on the Western Conference playoffs, while giving many observers the impression that they may no longer be capable of chasing an NBA title. While the Suns were capable of scoring 130 points or more against the likes of the Clippers, Warriors, and Thunder, they were unable to post similar numbers against big-time defensive opponents, which is the primary reason Phoenix missed the playoffs for the first time since 2004. Steve Nash has been heard to say that not every team can win an NBA championship. This has been taken by many as his way of saying what many others are thinking – that the Suns' window for chasing the ultimate prize may have come and gone. The now-permanent presence of last season's interim coach, Alvin Gentry, provides comfort to Nash, who suffered under Terry Porter in the early going of last year's turbulent journey. Will feeling comfortable in a harmonious and pleasant atmosphere be enough for the Suns' superstar point guard who, in final stages of an excellent career, has achieved everything but conference title and a world championship? With Shaq and Coach Porter gone, Gentry is free to turn the team back over Nash, who will lead the Suns back to the running and scoring style of the era prior to the 2008-2009 campaign. While this will once again provide the US Airways Center with the offensive spectacles of the past, Phoenix will still need to step up on defense if they wish to seriously challenge rest of the West in the postseason. With the team having gone back to the style they are comfortable with, and the reins being given back to its rightful leader, get your tickets now and come watch Steve Nash and his Phoenix Suns as they will once again run and gun their way to the top of the Western Conference.
