Oklahoma City Thunder Tickets
Talented players took the court in the 1908s, but it was not until the 1990s that the team could find the right pieces to become a dominant team again. Shawn Kemp, Gary Payton, and Detlef Schrempf and a supporting cast that included Nate McMillan, Sam Perkins, and Hersey Hawkins became annual contenders for the Western Conference title. In the 1995-96 season the talented cast and Coach George Karl went to the NBA Finals.  The Oklahoma City Thunder is steadily building momentum as one of the most exciting young teams in the NBA. Kevin Durant is already one of the better players in the league and there is no doubt as to his status as a star. Additionally, Russell Westbrook has also shown that he is a quality starter at point guard, while James Harden, the NBA's third overall draft pick, is the newest member of the Thunder who is expected to shine. The expectations for the former Seattle Sonics weren't high last season, so the ability of interim coach Scott Brooks to guide the Thunder below the 60-loss mark speaks highly of his coaching ability. 2008-2009 did not start well under longtime former NBA assistant and head coach P.J. Carlesimo, as Oklahoma City proved to be fairly lackluster right from the start. However, under the direction of Brooks, superstar Kevin Durant seemed to really mesh with talented supporting teammates such as Russell Westbrook and Jeff Green. As a result, the Thunder went 20-30 after their pathetic 3-29 start, and rarely has a 23-win season seen so much cause for even the smallest amount of jubilation. Taking monster steps in the right direction, the 2009-2010 Oklahoma City Thunder are currently a very good and very young team. 20-year-old Kevin Durant is a star and set to improve even more, while Russell Westbrook from UCLA was an excellent player for Brooks last season and only 20 himself. Jeff Green, a pleasantly well-rounded player who possesses a high basketball IQ and provided an impressive performance last year, is only 22, and newly drafted James Harden is only 19, but displays huge amounts of ability as a penetrator, scorer, and assist man. Fellow draftee B.J. Mullens may a work in progress at 20 years of age, but a very attractive one. This year is all about player development for Brooks and the rest of his Thunder staff. With continued good teaching from a coach who won the trust of his players last season, the people of Oklahoma City have great reason to believe that their team is headed for better days. This team is going to be great fun to watch, and as they continue to improve the Ford Center is going to be a loud and exciting place to be.
