New York Knicks Tickets

The New York Knicks are primed for a deep playoff run in 2013. They are poised for such a run because the offense tends to favor isolation and can slow the game down. Luckily, the focal point of the half-court offense is Carmelo Anthony, so this team takes advantage of most possessions. Conversely, Tyson Chandler is the focal point of the defense. Suddenly, for the first time in more than a decade, this club is a Top-10 unit. This means this may be the year that Knicks tickets to Madison Square Garden for the postseason are as promising as they have been in the regular season.

For this to happen, Coach Mike Woodson has to have more than just Carmelo and Chandler playing at the top of their game. J.R. Smith cannot struggle for more than a couple games in a row, Raymond Felton has to do a little more than just bring the ball up the court, and another forward is going to have to play some lockdown defense. This is far from impossible, which is why the Knicks arrive as the number two seed in the Eastern Conference.

New York Knicks 2013-11

The New York Knicks have played in the NBA since the merger of the BAA and the NBL. This meand the club has been around for more than 60 years. Despite this long history in the media capital of the Western Hemisphere, the club has only won two championships.

Those championships came in 1970 and 1973. Then the fans cheered on at MSG as Willis Reed, Dave DeBusschere, Bill Bradley, and Walt Frazier led the team. These four players were the catalyst for the terrific 1970 squad that met the Lakers in the finals. Famously, Reed stepped out onto the court in Game 6 despite playing with a torn muscle in his right leg. He only played a few minutes, but it inspired the upending of the favored Lakers.

A few years later, the Knicks added Jerry Lucas and Earl “The Pearl” Monroe and NY met the Lakers in the NBA finals for the third time in four years. They had met one year previous and were easily dismissed. This time the Knicks (spurred by the play of Frazier and the Pearl) easily defeated the Lakers in the championship series, winning in five games.

The franchise enjoys a phenomenal fan base despite only having won two championships. Other Knicks teams have come close, but these other talented teams were shut out by the Minneapolis Lakers in the 1950s, the Boston Celtics in the 1980s, and the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s. Despite enjoying the play of Bernard King, Patrick Ewing, and many more great stars, other team’s dynasties always left them falling short.

There have been futile eras as well, most recently during the Isiah Thomas years, but the Knicks are on the right track now and fans are once again glad to have Knicks tickets to enjoy a game at MSG.
