New Orleans Hornets Tickets

Wow. One season removed from the Chris Paul era and the front office lands Anthony Davis with the number one pick. The New Orleans Hornets effectively moved up the timeline by a few years in the rebuilding process with that pick. Now New Orleans Hornets tickets will not be wasted on a club with no option but to lose 60 games a year to assemble a roster capable of climbing out of the cellar in the Western Conference. Instead, this is a basketball team ready to give even the very best teams in the league trouble from Game One in the 2012-2013 NBA season.

It is more than Davis that gives the fans a reason to increase attendance at New Orleans Arena. It is also the arrival of a new owner in tom Benson, the development of Eric Gordon, and the addition of a second lottery pick, guard Austin Rivers. It is the depth with which Coach Monty Williams now has to operate (Thanks Dell Demps, future GM of the Year winner!). Williams has stretch forward Ryan Anderson, solid center Robin Lopez, and athletic and experience forward Hakim Warrick. While the backcourt is expected to consist of Gordon and Rivers, the front court is a mystery.

Does Davis begin playing power forward or center? Which will result in his winning both the Rookie of the Year Award and the Defensive Player of the Year Award? Is Ryan Anderson going to start? He can shoot and rebound, but if Davis is the four, can he guard a three? What happens to Al-Farouq Aminu and Greivis Vasquez? There are so many questions and these are not desperate questions. These are the questions a young team with potential must answer.

Davis is a little too stringy at the moment to play center, according to the scouting report from NBADraft.net. So, this should make him a solid four, as Kevin Garnett played upon arriving from high school. This means Ryan Anderson may be the odd man out of the starting lineup, but could be the Sixth Man of the Year. Imagine Davis has a little foul trouble early. Suddenly Anderson is stretching the floor and hitting threes while grabbing rebounds on the defensive end. Or, if Davis is able to move over to the center position, he could come in and make up for Davis’s lack of an offensive game.

This is an incredible luxury to have. Unfortunately, it has to be shown that Rivers can play point. He is a smooth player who is also technically sound, but he is a shooting guard by nature. Williams’ biggest challenge is likely going to be creating a cohesive backcourt. Vasquez performed admirably last season, but he is not the future at the position. If Gordon and Rivers learned to play together, then this basketball team could avoid being a one-dimensional club, playing shutdown defense but only scoring 88 points a game.
