Utah Jazz 2009 Playoffs

The Utah Jazz have a great history thanks to two players, John Stockton and Karl Malone. The combo, known for their perfection of the pick and roll, took the team from regular season victims to postseason mainstays. Jazz playoff tickets were available from 1985 to 2003, when Stockton retired and Malone left the team for the Lakers. Their time together brought two NBA finals to Salt Lake City. In 1997 and 1998 the Jazz played the Bulls during their last two championship runs. Utah lost both times in six games, but they were perhaps the most worthy opponent for the Bulls during their six championships in the decade. Defensive greats Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman could not stop the Stockton to Malone play. If they did disrupt the pick and role, then Jeff Hornacek would be waiting in the corner for a three. The three, along with players like Byron Russell, Greg Ostertag, Howard Eisely, and Shandon Anderson played well under Coach Jerry Sloan and made the games close and making the Bulls earn their two last Larry O’Brien Trophies.
The Jazz enter the 2008-09 season hoping to make it to their third straight postseason. Deron Williams has been the key player along the way. Williams is the point guard out of the University of Illinois. He and Carlos Boozer have created a second coming of the Stockton-Malone relationship. Carlos Boozer has finally found a place to dominate after playing with LeBron James in Cleveland. As Williams continues to improve as a point guard, Boozer’s numbers have improved. Boozer has become a double-double machine while Williams has emerged as one of the best point guards in the league. As this relationship grows, Jazz playoff tickets will constantly be available for the postseason schedule.
Utah Jazz Background
The other main players for the Jazz at EnergySolutions Arena include defensive aces Andrei Kieilenko and Ronnie Brewer. Kirilenko, nicknamed AK-47, has watched his scoring numbers go down as Williams and Boozer have mid-gelled and injuries have stifled his game. He is still a defensive gem that can cover any position on the floor and provide occasional offense. Brewer makes up for Williams reaction problems on defense. Playoff tickets would not come to the Jazz if it were not for the shooting of Mehmet Okur and Matt Harping. Okur is a center who can step out and drill the three and Harping is a deep threat with bulk that helps get into the lane despite his lack of quickness. All these players need to perform each season for the Jazz to keep those Western Conference postseason aspirations alive.
