A new coach (Mike D’Antoni) and a new general manager (Donnie Walsh) hope to turn things around for a franchise that has suffered for years. Limited by a payroll that is many millions over the salary cap, the team will have to start with what they have. Chris Duhon was added as a mid-level exception and his pass-first mentality will work well within the structure of a D’Antoni offense. Jamal Crawford is a streaky scoring machine and Quentin Richardson is a tough small forward with a pretty good three pint stroke. The first season may be difficult and Knicks playoff tickets are far from a guarantee, but the change in philosophy is probably just what New York needs.
