New Orleans Hornets 2009 Playoffs
The New Orleans Hornets are just starting to get settled after jumping around from Charlotte to New Orleans to Oklahoma City (due to Hurricane Katrina) and back to the Big Easy. The team has moved a lot for a franchise that just started paying in 1988. Starting off in Charlotte the Hornets took a few seasons to grow along with the city. The team struggled at first to find its leader and then struggled to find a roster that could help give the rabid basketball fans playoff tickets every season.
The early combo of Larry Johnson, Alonzo Mourning, and Muggsy Bogues looked like the franchise’s saviors. In 1993 they took the club to its first postseason series and won it with an upset of the Boston Celtics. The Knicks beat them in the next round, but Hornets playoff tickets became an annual possibility in fans minds. Johnson and Mourning suffered injuries over the next couple of seasons and those new hopes quickly became grounded. When the core was healthy again in the 1994-95 season the team made the playoffs with a 50-win year. The team on the rise could not overcome the Chicago Bulls in the first round though. Since then, the Hornets have changed cities and stars, but have never been able to get passed the second round of the playoffs.
New Orleans Hornets Background
The Hornets emerged last season as a contender in the uber-competitive Western Conference. The Hornets were led by Chris Paul as the amazing point guard and head coach Byron Scott. This season that leadership returns and expects to make a deep postseason run that could land fans Hornets playoff tickets to the conference finals and beyond. Paul has sharp shooters in Morris Peterson and Peja Stojakovic, a low post threat in David West, and a receiver for his ally oop passes in Tyson Chandler.
The team should continue to rise in the league as Paul gets better and better with experience. As the team improves its defense and players learn to play in their roles New Orleans should bring excitement to every game on the regular season schedule and New Orleans Arena should be the home of plenty of playoff tickets in the future. Paul has the ability to make anybody better and that is the trait all true stars possess.
