Minnesota Timberwolves Tickets

The Minnesota Timberwolves went into the 2012/2013 season with post season expectations, they were eagerly anticipating the return of Ricky Rubio from his knee surgery, with Rubio back in the line up they were expected to contend for a playoff spot. What they did not expect was the rash of injuries that hit the team.

All-Star Power Forward Kevin Love missed 64 games with a broken hand, off season acquisition Brandon Roy who was expected to provide a spark of the bench, couldn't shake the knee issues that had plagued him in his career forcing him to retire once, missed 77 games, Chase Budinger acquired from the Houston Rockets in a trade to provide perimeter scoring also missed 59 games. Other players including Andrei Kirilinko also missed significant time due to injuries.

All these players were very significant to the team hopes for the season, because of all the injuries, the team limped to a 31-51 Season. The good news for the Timberwolves this season is that all the injured players have recovered and they are expected to be in the lineup when the season starts.

The Minnesota Timberwolves brought back former coach Flip Saunders as the General Manager replacing David Khan, it gives them a better chance of retaining soon to be free agent Kevin Love, who had been alienated by Khan. They lost Andrei Kirilinko to the Brooklyn Nets when he opted out of the remaining year of his contract, his reason being he wanted to play for a contender. The team added Kevin Martin form the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Corey Brewer in sign and trade deals, and re signed free agents Nikolai Pekovic, and Chase Budinger.

The Timberwolves also had a good draft where they took former UCLA star Shabazz Muhammad, and Gorgui Deng from Louisville, both are expected to contribute this season. Head Coach Rick Adelman is also returning after dealing with health issues concerning his wife.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have a roster that is expected to contend for a playoff spot this coming season, which is goal they can achieve if they find a way to avoid the kind of injuries that derailed their previous season.
