Houston Rockets Tickets

Houston Rockets have made some important transfers this summer! The most important of them is the capture of Dwight Howard on a free transfer! Last year they finished 8th in the western conference but this year they are going to be one of the top three teams in their Conference!

The Change
One of the things that Howard should change in Houston Rockets is their defence! Last year, the team posted the second worst defence as they allowed 102.5 points per game! He used to be one of the best defenders and now he should help his new team improve in the defense! His athletic body help him play good defense as he not only take all the rebounds but also prevent the opponents from shooting! He is also very good at blocking!

The scoring machine
James Harden is obviously a very good player! But now, with Howard they are going to help Houston Rockets reach their expectations! These two players can run the pick-and-roll to perfection! So the opponent teams will suffer a lot from these two excellent players who score many points per game!

Other signings
The two new guard/forwards Omri Casspi and Francisco Garcia will definitely help Houston Rockets as they give the necessary depth in the bench! They are known for their ability on three point shooting and will help Howard as they will give him more space in the basket!

The Key
Aaron Brooks will be a key for Houston Rockets as we all know what he is capable for! Last season's appearances were disappointing but he is a very good player and he has to prove that! He is a quick guard who can open spaces for his teammates and give them free shoots!

The Prediction
This season's roster seems to be one of the best for Houston Rockets and reminds me the old good seasons! They have the power to cause problems to every team in the west conference! They have all they need to be good during the season! We will see if they can achieve it!

Houston Rockets

Houston Rockets History

The Houston Rockets first stepped onto the court in 1967. Then they were the San Diego Rockets, but after four years the team moved to Houston. These early basketball teams were quite competitive thanks to the talented trio of forward/center Elvin Hayes, guard Calvin Murphy, and guard Rudy Tomjanovich. Hayes actually did not stay very long, but he helped Murphy and Rudy T transition into leadership roles.

Of course, the Rockets fans are well aware team is at its best when it has a dominant big man. This has been the case dating back to the brief time with Elvin Hayes and the eventual arrival of Moses Malone in 1976. Malone had been playing in the ABA but the Rockets drafted him in the dispersal draft after the NBA-ABA merger. With Malone, Murphy, and Rudy T, the Rockets finally made playing in the playoffs something to be expected. At their best, in 1981, the Rockets met the Celtics in the NBA finals. The Celtics won in six games, but the Rockets made an incredible run despite only going 40-42 in the regular season.

The next great team was in the 1980s. Then Hakeem Olajuwan and Ralph Sampson were known as the Twin Towers. These two talented post players took the Houston Rockets to the NBA finals in 1986. Again they played the Celtics and again they lost in six games.

Houston would not win an NBA Finals until 1994. That year Olajuwon was the stars and players like Kenny Smith, Robert Horry, Otis Thorpe and Sam Cassell played important roles in the rotation. Houston went 58-24 and endured an epic series with the Phoenix Suns before easily dismissing the Utah Jazz in the Western Conference Finals and meeting the Knicks in the NBA finals. The series went all seven games, but the Rockets emerged victorious. The next year the Rockets repeated as champions, most notably after adding Clyde Drexler to the roster.  In the years since, Steve Francis, Yao Ming, and Tracy McGrady have tried to add a third championship, but have fallen short.
