Detroit Pistons Tickets

Heading into the 2013/2014 NBA season the Detroit Pistons are looking to rebuild and restore a formerly dominant franchise to glory. The Pistons have parted ways with former coach Lawrence Frank following two consecutive losing seasons. Former player and coach Maurice Cheeks has returned to try and turn the ship around and is assisted by fellow returning Piston Rasheed Wallace in a coaching capacity. As well as a shakeup of the coaching staff the Pistons have signed prominent names during the free agency period including former star Chauncey Billups and the elite Josh Smith. Along with Italian league MVP Luigi Datone they will seek to provide fresh blood and enthusiasm on the playing staff. Team owner Tom Gores will be hoping the new names can restore Detroit to a winning record this season.

One of the positives going forward for Detroit is the fact that the vast majority of their wins last season came in the latter part of the year. This should give them momentum heading forward. It remains to be seen whether the free agent acquisitions, who some anticipate will be playing slightly outside of their most familiar positions, will gel in a way which enables the standard of play at The Palace this year to improve stylistically. Detroit fans have been disappointed with the style of play and will be hoping it improves along with the wins and losses column.

Many experts predict Detroit to once again be an average at best team this year but others are slightly more optimistic. If the blend of free agent acquisitions, coaching changes and late season momentum can be carried over into the new campaign then some analysts are predicting that this could be the year that the Pistons' playoff absence finally ends. No-one is saying they will make the Finals this year but if everything falls into place then the playoffs are definitely realistic.
